Did I type that right - it has already been 4 days? They have gone by fast and furious. Today was Perpetual Education Fund (PEF) training in Salt Lake at Church Headquarters - walked past Elder Holland and Elder Cook and they said "hi."
I can truly say, President Hinckley was a visionary. The PEF is wonderful. It is helping over 40,000 young people throughout most of South America and Asia get an education that will lead to a better job and life for them. One full year of training for them is the same as one semester for Marc here (and his is only two classes).
Don't know if dad quoted Bishop Edgley from our devotional, but if he did, it's worth a repeat. He was talking to the young missionaries and told them that if they had people who questioned Joseph Smith's vision they should ask the other two witnesses that were there. Wow, that puts it in perspective.
If you don't have a copy of Preach My Gospel, go spend the $ and get one. It is an amazing book. Don't read it from first to last. Pick a chapter and study the question the chapter asks. Today, we read about missionary work from D&C 31 - my challenge to all of you is to read it from V3 - the hour of your mission has come and then try to find 10 or more blessings that are promised from your serving a mission, e.g., V5, thrust in your sickle and your sins are forgiven you.
Okay, enough preaching. We are having fun. I (perhaps we) have lots to learn. We did find out today from Brother Hoskinson that our mission president wants us to work with some sisters who have requested to learn how to preserve fruit. From what we know in our training, we are going to listen to their needs and work from that perspective. This should be a great project.
